Brivio aiming to defy Bridgestone expectations

Having seen his rider Valentino Rossi second on the timesheets in Estoril, Fiat Yamaha Manager Davide Brivio says that the Italian side of the garage are refusing to lower expectations at a 'non Bridgestone' track.

Rossi was just 0.040 off the fastest time of the day, set by Repsol Honda's Dani Pedrosa and was the only rider on Japanese rubber in the top 6.

Despite a difficult outlook for Bridgestone riders if the weather holds out this weekend, Brivio believes that his charge can still aspire to victory.

'Valentino likes this track, and Yamaha have always gone well here with people like Colin Edwards, Coming here Bridgestone said this wasn't their favourite track, to put it mildly, but we chose not to believe that and come here with the intent to attack.

'We shouldn't expect to win the race, but we will definitely try'
